Luxury Self-Catering Holiday Gites
Our Accommodation
La Petite Ferme Embir has two newly renovated gites that previously formed part of the original stone barn. Our delightful accommodation retains many of the original barn features, including wooden beams and door frames, and reclaimed stonework from an old chapel that was once on the estate.
With a well-thought-out blend of traditional features and sympathetic, tasteful renovation undertaken by the current owners, these two holiday cottages are in excellent condition. Even with the recently added modern touches, the gites are beautifully presented and have a unique character. Something rarely found in newly renovated properties.
The charming, private gardens have established trees and shrubs and plenty of shaded areas to protect you from the sun during long lazy afternoons. Take advantage of the gites’ outdoor kitchen and dining areas too.
Dining alfresco at Petite Ferme Embir means relaxed, unhurried meals, sipping cool refreshing drinks while you lean back and absorb the nature that surrounds you. Lush greenery, bright blue skies in the day and the birds singing in the trees, and clear, star-filled night skies.
With fabulous views of the rolling countryside, the gites are in a private rural location but only a short drive from all the local amenities. Luxury self-catering gite holidays do not get much better than this. Check availability and book your next French trip today.
“We travelled to take part in a bike race – Triangle Sud Berry. This was an excellent location. Clare was a great host and very helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. The gite was very comfortable and spacious.” Lisa, August 2023
Stable Cottage – sleeps 4
The larger of the two gites, Stable Cottage (Gîte de l’écurie) is perfect for family and friends who want to reconnect. It’s also ideal for exclusive, intimate gatherings to celebrate a special birthday or occasion.
Accommodation on the ground floor consists of comfortable, spacious open plan living and dining area with a modern fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher. Also on this level there is a cloakroom, storage cupboard and a large bathroom with a bath, shower and hand basin.
The first floor comprises two large bedrooms, one with a king size bed and en suite, whilst the second bedroom contains two double beds. In both rooms, the luxury Egyptian cotton bedlinen, pillows and duvets will ensure you have a restful sleep. In the cooler seasons, additional blankets or throws are available on request.
Extra large, soft fluffy bath sheets, hand towels, and toiletries are provided in the bathrooms and en suite.
Enjoy the Outdoors
Stable Cottage has its own private gardens at the front and rear with tables, chairs and sun loungers. There is also a covered terrace with outdoor cooking facilities where you can dine alfresco. Sit and listen to the birds singing while you have breakfast; enjoy the views while you sip something cold and refreshing over lunch. Then, after a day out sight-seeing and exploring the area, sit back and relax while you dine on delicious French meats and cheeses purchased from one of the local weekly farmer’s markets.
With soft throws to take the chill off when the evening cools, turn on the terrace fairy lights and enjoy a relaxing evening looking at the map planning the next day’s activities

There is a very nominal charge (for water and electricity) and we provide the detergent, softener etc. A clothes airer and washing basket is available in each gite. For large loads, both the supermarkets in La Chartre have washing machines and dryers.

NO SMOKING POLICY: Strictly no smoking is allowed inside the accommodation or near the stables and barns. Always use the ashtrays provided and make sure that cigarettes are fully stubbed out before being disposed of.
OUTSIDE AREA: Ample off-road parking and secure storage for bicycles, etc. The flat gravel path from the parking area takes you to the rear of the accommodation, and each gite has its own separate entrance.
PETS: At present there is no secure fencing around part of the gites. Hopefully the fencing will be installed by the summer of 2024. Until then we cannot allow guests to bring their dogs.
CHILDREN: Currently we do not provide any baby equipment, child safety gates or children’s play equipment. The beds are suitable for adults or children. We can put a small bed in the main bedroom of either gite on request for an extra 5€ per night.
Additional Accommodation Info.
Currently, we have three small Ouessant sheep, two large goats, two small ones, three horses, several chickens and a few geese. They are all friendly and like being fed. If you’d like to feed them then please ask. We will accompany you and provide a few tasty treats that you can give to them. The sheep can be quite shy with strangers, so please do not take it personally!
During the summer months, our horses are kept in the stables out of the heat. Once the day starts to cool they go out in their paddocks. There are some areas of electric fencing around the paddocks and these are clearly signposted. Our own dogs are kept close to our house during the time guests are staying, so should not bother you. We have a little cat family too, but please do not try pick them up or feed them.

OPENING HOURS: Most shops and banks will close between 12 noon and 2pm and some will close on Wednesdays. It is always worth checking the opening hours before making a special trip.
